spring daydreaming

earlier this week we had the most gorgeous spring day. we went on a walk and had a picnic lunch at the park behind our house. the trees are still bare, but the grass is green and soft, perfect for an afternoon of lounging and running around and then yesterday it snowed. this has been the strangest spring! denver has had snow almost every week since february and i am so very ready for warmth. i find myself daydreaming of the beaches in hawaii, with my sand in my toes and the smell of saltwater. oh, i could be a beach bum. but, the reality is, we do live in a gorgeous place with a lot of adventure to be had.

we started planning our vacations for this summer. yellowstone, the grand tetons, and moab are on our short list. we would like to do a lot of weekend car camping around colorado too. what are some fun trips that you have made in the summer? any advice on camping with kids (and two very energetic jack russell terriers)? i'm thinking a large tent would be a lot of fun!

lately

lately.

harper has had a crummy virus that has morphed into every sickness imaginable. i'm hoping she is on the mend soon, as it has been a full week since it started. there are sudden bursts of energy, followed by crashes of exhaustion. poor little one. baby boy has had it too, but thankfully has not gotten as sick as harper.

we decided to keep our spot in the community garden this year. we may produce one squash all season, but we couldn't give it up. it was such a wonderful place to go last summer with harper. our evenings were spend watering and weed pulling while harper ate grapes off of the vine. it may be a challenge to get there as often with a newborn, but we will find a way and hopefully have a good gardening season.

1. even when she is sick she has a smile.
2. this guy is getting big! and loves to kick.
3. ranunculus are my new favorite flower. so gorgeous.
4. harper pulls up a chair while i feed sawyer. while i may still be in my pajamas, i love this shot.
5. harper and i made spring bows.
6. puddle jumping.
7. sawyer got photo bombed.
8. harper's portrait of her daddy with sunshine and mountains and a carrot.
9. painting on a snowy afternoon.

picnic perfection

do you ever have a day that you wished would never end? yesterday was one of those days for me. holy smokes, it was great! christopher had an unexpected day off and we soaked up every single minute together. i thought i would share a few (ha!) shots from our picnic at the park by our house. we packed up our lunches and gathered lilacs and daffodils, ate, drank and enjoyed all of the goodness that a spring day has to offer.

last weekend we got a bike trailer for harper and we went on our first ride with it last night. after being initially terrified of being strapped in, as soon as christopher started pedaling, she was squealing, "wee!" it was the best way to end a glorious spring day.

p.s. can you believe how green it is here? we live in the mountains for goodness sakes!

pastel collections

our afternoons lately have been spent collecting lilacs, pinecones and rocks and drawing on the patio. harper sits and colors making the cutest little circles all over the sidewalk. i am requested every. single. time to draw our dog livi, ben and a turtle.

we have a big weekend in store. christopher has the whole two days off and we are going to be planting some seeds in the freshly tilled garden and visiting our pals in the mountains. i can't wait!

thinking of this little one today.

spring!

i am loving this spring! the warmth, the pops of color, the longer days. i am hooked.

we are going to buy some seeds and plants this weekend. *yippee* i hadn't imagined the planting season was so much later here, but hopefully soon we will be digging in the soil. in the meantime, harper has been reading up on gardening.

have a lovely weekend!
