around here

my sweet girl. my spirited and feisty and full of energy little girl. these past few months have been a roller coaster of good and bad days with the good being great and the bad being, well, tough to handle.

thank you for coming back to this little spot despite the sparse and rather lack luster posts as of late. i promise to dust off the camera and share some crafty projects and nursery updates in the near future. until then, we will be spending our lovely fall afternoons at the park burning energy and sipping chai teas.

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween from the little puppy dog and her fire fighter friend! We had so much fun taking these two little spitfires trick or treating last night. Since they were a fire fighter and dalmatian, the first stop was the firehouse. With the combination of excitement, candy and running around in the dark, it got a little crazy, but they had such a fun time. Harper seriously woke up before the sun with excitement, "We are going trick or treating with Kylee?" It is one of those great things about being a parent to see such anticipation and joy in your child's eyes. Hearing her shout with glee, "Twick or TWEEEET!" and a polite "thank you!".

Hope your Halloween was spooky and fun!

p.s. photos are a little blurry...due to very wiggly little girls!

fall crafting

afternoon crafting. harper and i have been crafting away this fall. we have been making spider cards, giant googly eyed spiders and candy stuffed pumpkins for her class tomorrow. it has been a joy to watch her complete the projects and express some creativity.

have you done any fun projects this week?

gathering

While Harper gathers leaves, pinecones and acorns at the park, I am slowly collecting items for baby boy. I am trying to be very mindful of what we will really need, which is not all that much, really. It is hard to turn down a pair of sweet little gray boots though.

it's beginning to feel like fall

we woke up to our first chill of the season. hot chocolate and tea were prepared along with the first fire since last winter. i love getting bundled up on fall mornings and slowly peeling off layers throughout the day as it warms up. don't you just love fall?

DIY: Glitter pumpkins

On a rainy day earlier this week, Harper and I got out the glitter and jazzed up some little pumpkins that we had just picked up. It was a fun and easy craft to do with her and we now have a super sparkly floor!

There are only a few materials needed: pumpkins (any size or shape), glue, glitter, paintbrushes and wax paper.

After spreading out the wax paper, start applying glue to half of your pumpkin. Only do half because your glue will dry and it will be much less messy.

Once you have painted half of your pumpkin with glue, start sprinkling with the glitter.

Allow the pumpkin to dry completely before repeating the process on the other side.

After the pumpkin is completely glittered, let dry overnight before handling.

Enjoy! When I was teaching, I glittered a huge pumpkin with a jack o' lantern face for our fall carnival raffle. Harper is going to make one for her teachers at school for Halloween and we are keeping the rest on our table at home.
