"a portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014."

harper: chit chatting about twirly dresses (with no collars because collars are not fun!) and stick on earrings. my girly girl.

sawyer: bbbbbbzzzz, zzzzzzzzzz, dadadada are the sounds he makes when playing cars. and those little lips and furrowed brow.

"a portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014."

harper: baking with me and she discovered her reflection. she spent several minutes making silly faces before resuming bowl licking duties.

sawyer: this babe loves to play independently. he is crawling wherever he likes, climbing stairs and tables and exploring life to its fullest. here he is "so big."

i've decided to give it another go this year. i am so grateful to have a full year of weekly documented portraits. i would like to use this year as a sort of journal for the children, documenting their interests and developments throughout the week. that is my goal, anyway. i thought maybe i would do this project independently and not use the blog, but have discovered that the blog is what pushes me to actually upload photos and be diligent about dusting off the camera. where i go with the blog beyond these portraits, i'm not sure of yet.

harper: she had the door closed. i knocked and asked what she was doing. "i'm helping livi find a sun spot," she replied.

sawyer: he is in a new phase of discovery. he is no longer the calm baby who wants to be held. there are places to explore and stairs to climb.

the end.

what a project. there were times i was not sure i could possibly finish. when i got weeks behind in posting and didn't pick up the camera for an entire week. the project encouraged me to use my camera, when i probably wouldn't have and instead just snapped more photos from the convenience of my phone.

i'm trying to decide what to do this year...where to go with the blog. it has become practically non existent this year apart from this project. we have a big year in 2014. sawyer will be one next month, christopher is graduating his residency program and we will be making a big move.

cheers to a new year and new adventures!

"a portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

harper: doesn't always enjoy having her picture made. although i was hesitant to post this, i decided to add it to the collection, as it is all part of being three. the next shot was her giving the dog rabbit ears.

sawyer: babbles and loves to explore the world around him.

harper: my threenager. i know there are continual cycles and phases and rhythms that we all go through, but i am ready to be through this little phase.

sawyer: piano man. this dude loves music. when he is completely grumpy and can't be comforted in the car, we turn on doris day's "bushel and a peck" and he immediately stops crying every. single. time! and he can't resist banging away on harpers piano.
