happy halloween, my friends. a few years ago, my brother was visiting and we decided to be part of this. we had a blast dressing up and being with a thousand other music loving skeletons.

this year will be spent at home with an ill husband and a sweet little girl who did not at all like putting on a costume. so, next year it is.

are you dressing up for halloween?

when i woke up yesterday, i couldn't help but run to the window like i did when i was a child to see how much snow we had gotten overnight. it snowed and snowed all day long. we huddled by the fire, i baked zucchini bread and made chili.

by late afternoon the snow had ceased and we bundled up to see and feel the blanket of white.

the visitors have come and gone. the house is still.

tonight the storm rolls in and we will wake to a winter wonderland. a new adventure for harper and for our family in the mountains.

a born dancer. she has moves that i could only wish for. seriously. when i was a teacher, one of my students said to me, "mrs. stellman, don't even try to start a beat." that one stuck with me. like a knife to the heart.

(please excuse the terrible iphone photo/video. we have a real camera, i promise.)

and happy 15 months tomorrow, my dancing girl.

yes, i know. more landscapes. enough already, right? we hiked maybe for the last time of the season this weekend and i could not snap enough photos.

in other news, christopher finished building his record cabinet (photos soon) and while unpacking the multiple boxes of records we found a few missing articles from our move! hooray!

christopher's mom is coming to visit this week. we have plans for lots of coffee drinking, crafting, a bit of shopping and maybe even a date night for me and the mister.

a few of the critters that were felted for harper.

yes, i am a needle felter.  not to be confused with a forty five year old spinster with really bad breath who wears knitted socks and stays at home every night talking to her cats and felting.

before we moved this summer i set the goal of going somewhere new every week. a few of weeks ago harper and i took a field trip to the gardens to see the local flora and fauna. it was lovely and even better was the free entry!

our vacation was wonderful.  harper had a great time entertaining my parents, whom she calls juju and dude (names they chose!). we had our first snow of the year and now the view is one of snow-capped mountains. i didn't take one single photo while we were with my parents, but snagged a few shots on the way home while harper happily snoozed away.

a few snippets before we head out of town.

1. i FINALLY finished this scarf.  seriously, i've been working on it off and on for about three years. pathetic. but, in that time, had a baby girl who allowed me to make it a little smaller.  thanks harper! i tried to snap her with it on, but she immediately tossed it onto the ground.  sigh. the little bear was picked up at a cute little shop in Oklahoma when she was a tiny little bundle of sweet baby rolls.

2. one of the items that i scored last weekend.  more bunting. one can never have enough bunting. if you need some of your own, check out this awesome gal.

3. i love this photo despite the trashcans and riff raff.  harper: squirrel whisperer.

harper and i are headed to a little mountain town with my parents while christopher stays and works (boo!). it's snowing (!?!?) there right now. can't wait!

the aspens are bursting with the most beautiful yellows and oranges.

we had the loveliest weekend. we went to this saturday morning and got a few awesome items that i will share soon.

the rest of our time was spent breathing mountain air, catching up with friends, and eating delicious food.
