after two straight days of snow, we decided to test out the sled on the hills behind our house. harper had never been, but being the snow lover that she is, we couldn't imagine her not having a jolly good time.

one slide down the hill. nuts. maybe she will go for it next year?

wishing you all a very happy and lovely christmas! see ya next year!

around here we have been staying busy by:
-playing dress up
-making art with the cool new crayons from the kinnards
-baking cookies and zucchini bread
-venturing out onto the snow with *no* tears (until her hand touched it and all hell broke loose)
-wrapping and mailing homemade goodies
-almost crying when the postal worker told me my total for shipping was $90!!
-going to zoo lights at the denver zoo - totally rad
-practicing saying, "ryan and naomi," who will be visiting us next week
-making more felted owls
-anticipating two. whole. days. with christopher starting tomorrow. hooray!

hope you are having a lovely week!

p.s. harper is 17 months today. where does time go?

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro

Tie up your boots
Jump off the ladder
Pack up your clothes
Nothing's the matter
Mistletoe hangs up in the bedroom
Your sister's bangs
She cut them herself
Santa is here
Sleighbells are ringing
Twenty-one elves
They are all singing
K-Mart is closed
So is the bakery
Everyone's home watching TV

Santa Claus is coming
Hear the banjo strumming

-Sufjan Stevens "Come On! Let's Boogey to the Elf Dance!"

we've been listening to this nonstop. it's a great set with classics and funny new christmas songs. harper really cuts a rug when it's on. today we are doing a little shopping, a little sewing, a little hot chocolate drinking, visiting the doctor, and wrapping up some finished gifts. whew!

oh and i loved the "oh joy" yarn and pipe cleaner here so i made my own version.

let's boogey!

our sunday afternoon drive lead us here. the crisp, fresh mountain air did us all good and we came home feeling refreshed and ready for a new week to begin. we left the owl for someone to find. i stole the lovely idea from kristi. if you are in our area, be on the lookout!

on tuesday harper and i bundled up and drove to our beloved echo lake. the landscape was covered with a blanket of sparkly white snow and the lake was completely frozen with hikers in their snow shoes slowly making their way across.

it has been a rough week here, but we are adapting and slowly accepting our new realities. we are trying to stay positive and be especially thankful for our many blessings. and while that is harder to do at times, we will do our best and our little family will grow stronger together.

i'm cheating on the no words this week. this is a moment that i want to remember, even though it might not have been a happy one for her...it's a colorado baby who hates snow. but she did accessorize her snowsuit.

the beginnings of a handmade holiday. the materials have been gathered, the sewing machine dusted off and the fabric cut.

one of our friends is expecting *triplets*. can you imagine? for the baby shower i made burp cloths and little owls and knitted some bow headbands. i used this basic pattern for the bows, but changed it up a bit for the little ones.

i am off to play with harper, sew and drink a hot chai tea while i watch the snow come down. does it get any better?
